Lacy Heart French

31 Mar

I’m on a bit of a french tip kick the last few days.  I’m liking have some naked nail peeking through.  I’m calling this design a lacy heart french.  I did a similar one around Valentine’s Day and really liked it.

This time I did two holographic polishes.  The blue is OPI DS Magic and the purple is Color Club Fashion Addict.  Have you noticed I’ve done a lot of purple and blue manis lately?  I don’t know why.  I’m not consciously doing it.  It’s a cool color combo though.  I guess you could call it a happy accident.  I didn’t initially do the blue dots, but I love Magic and just wanted more of it.

“Saved by the Bell” Nails

30 Mar

This is one of those manis that born out of just messing around with polishes.  I started with the purple and it didn’t seem done so I started playing around with the blue, then the dots and this is what you end up with.  Hubby and I agreed that it reminded us of the 90’s teen show “Saved by the Bell.”

I actually really like this one.  It looks very 1980’s, but who doesn’t like a good funky french?  My purple is Jordana Pop Art Artsy Purple, the lighter blue is Sinful Colors Savage and the darker is Julep Marisa.

What do you think of my 80’s funky french?

Faux Stud Mani

29 Mar

Today’s mani was inspired by The Nailasaurus and her stud mani.  I don’t have any studs and so I decided to give it a go with a dotting tool.

The base color for this mani is China Glaze First Class Ticket.  When I bought this polish I was looking for a dark blue and when I got home realized it was purple.  To add to my disappointment, the brush was all messed up.  Several of the bristles were bent and sticking out.  I probably should’ve taken it back because of the crappy brush, but to be honest, that’s just too much work.  My “studs” are OPI DS Radiance.

I like this design and think it’s a crazy, easy way to get a high fashion stud manicure.

Sideways Ruffian

28 Mar

I don’t know what to call this other than a sideways Ruffian.  By the way, can anyone tell me why a ruffian is called such?  Is it named after someone?

I don’t think this is a true Ruffian being that it’s multiple layers, multiple colors.  Can we talk about the colors?  I’m loving this combination!

This is another design that can be done with just the brushes in your polish.  I started by painting each finger a different of the five colors I chose.  Then layered a color at a time taking care to make sure that each nail was different.  This was an easy design, but definitely took some dry time.  I used Jordana Quick Dry top coat in between layers and worked on this design throughout the day to try to avoid drying issues.

The colors I used for this manicure are as follows:
brown- Sinful Colors Nirvana
blue- Sinful Colors Mint Apple
white- China Glaze White on White
orange- Cloud 9
purple- Jordana Purple Bright

All topped off with Seche Vite.

Twinsie Tuesday: A Disappointment

27 Mar

Before I get down to business, can I just say that I have some of the most amazing readers out there!  Seriously!  You’re all so complimentary!  I so, so, sooo, appreciate your comments, loyalties and feedbacks.  I sincerely thank you!

Twinsie Tuesday!  I know many of you may be appalled at what I’m about to say…I found Revlon Whimsical to be a let down.  And that’s exactly what this week’s edition of Twinsie Tuesday is all about; a hyped up polish that turned out to be a disappointment.  Whimsical was a true lemming for me.  I wasn’t overly impressed with it, but just had to have it.

I’ve had it for a couple months and hadn’t tried it yet so this was the perfect opportunity for me to see if it could live up to all the hype.  I wanted this to be super light and airy so I put it over China Glaze White on White.  I have a problem with glittered polishes that need 17 layers to give good coverage and enough glitter.  This was exactly that kind of polish.  I wanted so badly to love this polish, but I don’t anticipate using it again.

I thought it was too light.  Although choosing a darker base polish would fix that.  I just saw baby shower when I looked at it.  Really.  This is the polish I would probably pick to wear to a baby shower or maybe a party where a baby’s gender was being announced.  I felt eh, meh about his polish.  There was a shoulder shrug in there in case you didn’t catch it.  I’m happy, at least, that I paid a Revlon price and not a Deborah Lippmann price for Glitter in the Air.

Be sure the check out all the other disappointments today:
