Share the Love: The Polished Panda

24 Nov

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  Are you all dressed up in your best stretchy pants ready for a feast?  Well, after you’ve had your fill of food, football and family you can get your mani on!  Today is day 4 of Share the Love and Heather from The Polished Panda is visiting today.

Hello everyone & Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are having a lovely week so far and spending lots of time with those you love and care about! My name is Heather and I’m from The Polished Panda! I am so happy to be guest posting here on Rachel’s awesome blog!

My theme for the week has been 5 Days of Glitters and today I have for you a really awesome one from Color Club’ Scent-suous holiday collection. This is Sugar Plum Yum! (And it smells awesome!!)

I started off with two coats of Savvy – Deep Amethyst and then on my thumb and ring finger did two coats of Sugar Plum Yum and on the rest of my fingers used two coats of Sugar Plum Yum on the tips. I LOVE how it turned out!!! The only bad thing is that SPY is SOOOOOO thick and very difficult to work with. And because of how thick the flakies were I had to use  two thick coats of Seche Vite to smooth it out. As difficult as it was to work with, I still really enjoyed this mani and I hope you do, too! Don’t forget to check out all of our blogs to see what we’re posting this week! Thank you again, Rachel, for having me! ❤

Thanks Heather!  I love the pop of green glitter over the purple.  Beautiful!  Glad you stopped by!

Share the Love: Nailed

23 Nov

Good morning everyone!  Today’s Share the Love guest poster is Chelsea from Nailed: A Nail Polish Blog.  Welcome to Top Coat It, Chelsea!

Hi everybody! Thank you Rachel for hosting me! 🙂 Rachel has done some great nail art posts on her blog but I am unfortunately not so gifted in the artistic department, so a beautiful creme will just have to suffice for my guest post!

My Lifesaver is one of the many, many cousins of the famous China Glaze For Audrey. It seems as if every other company has their own version of this polish-and yet I own several of them because I think this color is just too pretty. Compared to For Audrey, My Lifesaver is a touch more green, but they are definitely still within the same family. It isn’t quite as blue as my camera captured it.

My Lifesaver went on in two silky smooth coats. This polish has the “Perfect Stroke” brush, which I  know many lacquerheads are very divided on. Personally I don’t care for it but I’m getting used to it and application was still a breeze. However, the new NOPI holiday glitters and Kardashian polishes seem to have done away with the Perfect Stroke.

My Lifesaver may not be the most unique shade out there, but I seriously fall in love with all of these For Audrey near-dupes, even though I have the original For Audrey. I dunno what it is, but something about them just calls to me. I think they’re flattering on a huge variety of skintones as well-and no lobster hands on me, which is always a plus!

On a personal sidenote, this particular polish came out with the Justin Bieber Collection and for a long time the association with the Biebs was enough to keep me away from the collection. (I’m sorry if any of you out there like him, I just… I can’t.) But my local Meijer always had truckloads of the Bieber polishes and I kept noticing how much I actually liked some of the colors. So finally I caved and bouht two: this and Me + Blue. NOPI also got me to shell out some money for three of the Kardashian polishes, so clearly I am willing to compromise my principles in exchange for pretty things. 🙂

Thanks Chelsea!

Share the Love: See Sarah Swatch

22 Nov

Hey gals!  Today is day 2 of Share the Love and I’m happy to have Sarah from See Sarah Swatch joining us.  Sarah has created some fun frankens and is here to show one of them off.  Welcome Sarah!

Hello!! I’m Sarah from See Sarah Swatch, and I have one of my favorite frankens for you today! But first, I want to thank Rachel for hosting me today! I’m super excited, so let’s get started:] This one, I named In the Dark of the Night:

This is 2 coats
I used red-to-green color morphing powder, a liiiiiiiiiiittle of green-to-blue, and Revlon Watermelon Fizz & Royal & some black
The glitter is so freaking pretty in this, especially with the crushed flake-y type from the Watermelon Fizz. So this is named In the Dark of the Night because it reminds me of that song from Anastasia!! That was one of my FAVORITE movies when I was a kid, and I still love every minute of it. Just watch this & I dare you not to love it ;]
gah!! Such a good movie:] I love the little bat, Bartok.
Anyway, back to nail polish! I hope you liked my franken for you today. If you want to see another one, follow me over to Heather’s blog, The Polished Panda, tomorrow for my next guest post! & thank you again Rachel for hosting me today!
Mixing my own polish colors is a foreign world to me, but I love seeing the creations others come up with.  Thanks for stopping by Sarah!

Share the Love: Amandalandish

21 Nov
Good morning and welcome to the start of Share the Love week!  This week I’ll be featuring a guest post from a fellow blogger each day through Friday.  I will also be guest posting on one of their blogs each day throughout the week.  Today Top Coat It is welcoming Amanda from Amandalandish.  She is the brains behind this whole Share the Love guest posting adventure.  Take it away, Amanda!

Happy Monday, everyone!  And a big thank you to Rachel for starting me off on my week of guest posts 🙂

Today begins my 5 Days of Greys Series, which will circle through each of the 5 participating Share the Love blogs.  I’m really excited to unveil my first grey, which is my ultimate, most favorite, go-to grey:

Diamond Cosmetics Concrete Jungle.

Diamond Cosmetics is one of my favorite brands.  Super cheap (everything is $2.50!), DC makes amazingly on trend colors with fabulous formula to boot.  Their customer service is also great, which always makes me happy.

Concrete Jungle is the perfect grey for my skin tone.  I’m very fair and prefer cooler colors to warmer ones.  Greys are sometimes tricky, though, because their bases are often beige, green, or even white, which as a neutral, can make someone look like they have mannequin hands and rigor mortis.  I don’t really like either look.

With Concrete Jungle, the undertone is a really lovely slate blue, which I think just pops from my nail.  From the pictures without flash, this easily looks like a dupe for Sally Hansen Wet Cement.  Because this is clearly a creme on the nail and has that blue base, make no mistake, this is no dupe.

Just for kicks, I attempted to jazz this up as a half moon mani, with China Glaze Recycle overlay.  If you read my blog, you’ll know that that was an epic fail.  However, I got one good nail:
Fuzzy picture for an equally fuzzy mani attempt.
Can’t wait to see what all other girls have in store this week!Stay tuned for Day 2 over at Heather’s blog, The Polished Panda!

Thanks for the beautiful swatch Amanda!  Hope you enjoyed your stay; come back again soon!
