Twinsie Tuesday: Copycat Take 2

5 Mar

A while back we did a copycat theme week. Today is take two.

SaranWrap_gradient (4) WLcopyI was given Chelsea’s Nailed Blog to find my inspiration this week. I chose to do her Saran Wrap Mani.

SaranWrap_gradient (7) WLcopyOf course I had to put my own twist on it and try it as a gradient. After doing my base color of CND Asphalt, I painted half of my nail with OPI Do You Lilac It and the other half with Sinful Colors Innocent. Then went to town with my Saran Wrap. It made for a cool effect. What do you think of this Saran wrap gradient?

Be sure the check out all the other manis today:

Happy Little Shamrocks

1 Mar

Happy March!  Spring is almost here my friends! Shamrock (5) WLcopyMarch is a busy month.  We have daylight savings, St. Patrick’s Day, the first day of spring and this year, Easter as well.  Lots of different manicure inspiration options. 🙂

Shamrock (9) WLcopyI kept is super simple today. I haven’t done shamrocks before. I used Sally Hansen White On and green acrylic paint.  I hope March is a lucky month for you!

Checks

22 Feb

More spring colors.  I hate that all the Easter candy is out in stores already.  Too much temptation!Checks_brown_purple_green (4) WLcopyThis manicure basically represents what my daughter’s room looks like.  She’s got an accent wall that is painted just like this.  Her colors are a bit softer, but this was the best I could do.  Obviously I freehanded this.  I don’t mind the organic lines.  They’re better than spending hours waiting for polish to dry so I can tape my nails off to do the next color. Checks_brown_purple_green (6) WLcopy

I used Jordana Chiffon and OPI Do You Lilac It and brown and green acrylics.  I topped it off with Chill Zone top coat.  I think I was a little too hasty in my application, because I had a ton of bubbles.  Operator error.

Aliens Need Love Too

14 Feb

Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  This song came on the radio while I was driving around town the other day.  And this mani was born. Valentines_Aliens (11) WLcopyI’ve been laughing about it for days! It’s a little crazy, I know.  Aliens have hearts too ya know.  They’re probably celebrating Valentine’s Day today just like we are. 😉

Valentines_Aliens (12) WLcopyMy hubby got a good laugh out of it.  My daughter asked what they were, then said they were mad. Ha ha!

Valentines_Aliens (14) WLcopyMy base polish for this design was OPI DS Magic, my aliens are Sinful Colors Innocent and the pink heart is Milani Pink Hottie. Everything else was done with acrylics.  I topped it off with Chill Zone top coat.

Valentines_Aliens (21) WLcopyI think this is super cute and I’m giving myself a pat on the back for it. I think it’s safe to say this mani is one of a kind. I hope you’re all spending the day with people you love (romantically or otherwise). Happy Valentine’s Day!

Black and Green

4 Feb

I recently bought a shirt that is fat stripes of army green and black. I love it. One day while wearing it, I decided to use it as my inspiration.Stripes_roses_green_black (2) WLcopyMy shirt doesn’t have any roses on it, but I didn’t want to do all stripes on my nails and man, am I glad I decided against that. I don’t know if it was my tape or something to do with the China Glaze Liquid Leather I was using, but each time I tried to peel the tape off after polishing, the tape would break. It was strange. It just snapped on in little pieces like it had been scored or something. Fortunately my green polish, OPI Uh-Oh Roll Down the Window was pretty dry so shoving a pin under the tape to peel off the left over parts didn’t ruin the base color. It did however ruin the black stripes. Rather than bagging the whole mani and taking it off, I went in with a striping brush and fixed the damage as best I could. Stripes_roses_green_black (7) WLcopyOverall, I’m pleased with this mani. I didn’t use new or different tape than I’ve been using, so I can only figure that that tape and Liquid Leather don’t play well together. Has anyone else had issues like this? It’s like the polish weakened the tape or something. Bizarre.
