Twinsie Tuesday: Copycat Take 2

5 Mar

A while back we did a copycat theme week. Today is take two.

SaranWrap_gradient (4) WLcopyI was given Chelsea’s Nailed Blog to find my inspiration this week. I chose to do her Saran Wrap Mani.

SaranWrap_gradient (7) WLcopyOf course I had to put my own twist on it and try it as a gradient. After doing my base color of CND Asphalt, I painted half of my nail with OPI Do You Lilac It and the other half with Sinful Colors Innocent. Then went to town with my Saran Wrap. It made for a cool effect. What do you think of this Saran wrap gradient?

Be sure the check out all the other manis today:

Saran Wrap Turquoise

9 Jan

While I’m not partial to these earrings myself, I thought this would make a fun design to try on my nails.

SaranWrap_torquoise_gold (9) WLcopyI have done turquoise designs before and used an acid wash technique to achieve the look.  Having just tried the Saran wrap technique I decided to try it here.

I’m really pleased with the turquoise look that resulted.  I added the gold lines with acrylic paint.SaranWrap_torquoise_gold (11) WLcopy

Twinsie Tuesday: Saran Wrap

8 Jan

I was excited for this week because I hadn’t tried a Saran wrap mani yet.  Just to make sure I understood what I was supposed to be doing I Googled it.  Evidently it’s acceptable to use the Saran wrap to add or remove polish from your nail.  I opted for the remove technique.

SaranWrap (3) WLcopyI really thought this color combination would have a little more pizazz.  It’s pretty, but it just kind of looks like a stone of some sort.  I do sometimes look at it and think it looks like one of those Hubble telescope images.

SaranWrap (11) WLcopyMy base color was Orly Decades of Dysfunction then I polished on Orly Space Cadet and pulled some of it back off with my little balls of Saran wrap.  This is definitely a technique that I would like to play around with more.  I’m not overly thrilled with these results, but am intrigued enough to keep trying.  I did achieve a pretty neutral effect though.

SaranWrap (14) WLcopyHave you tried the Saran wrap technique? What do you think?
