Stripes

26 Sep

Stripes was all I could think to call this.  Was just playing around and this is came of it.

I just used the bottle brush for this design and kinda slapped it on.

I used Sinful Colors Timbleberry and Nirvana and China Glaze For Audrey.

I’m not sure I like this color combo, but I think the design is cool.

Gradient Stripes

I think this is another unintentional animal print.  The other day I did an peacock without meaning to and, again because of my color choices, this looks a bit tiger stripe-ish.

I’m sure if I’d done blue or green it would just look like stripes.  I used Julep Brigitte as my base.

For my stripes I started with China Glaze Peachy Keen, next came Sinful Colors Hazard and Timbleberry.  The darkest of my colors was Wet ‘n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond.  I’m curious to see what this looks like in other colors because all I see when I look at it now is wannabe tiger stripes.

Wedding Day Polka Dots

3 Sep

As I said in my last post, my sister got married on Saturday.  It rained most of the day and we were all very nervous that the outdoor wedding and reception that had been planned would be ruined.  Thankfully, the skies cleared a little more than an hour before the ceremony.  The sun came out and everything dried up.  It was a very sweet ceremony.  My sister looked unbelievably gorgeous and my new brother-in-law was very handsome in his tux.  A new storm rolled in after a couple hours and we had to scramble inside for the remainder of the celebration, but it didn’t ruin the evening.  Definitely a night to remember.

Being that I was making the wedding cake, I didn’t have a lot of time to do my own nails.  I wanted to keep them simple anyway.

Her colors were coral and aqua.  I polished my nails with Wet ‘n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint then dotted on some Julep Alyson and Revlon Peachy.  They were the perfect compliment to my coral bridesmaid’s dress and the turquoise jewelery I wore.

I topped it off with Hong Kong Girl Top Coat.

I’ll post a picture of the wedding cake on Top Coat It’s Facebook page if you’d like a peek at it.

Wedding Cake Nails

1 Sep

My sister is getting married today!  I’m so excited for her and my soon to be brother-in-law!  Of course it’s raining today.  This has been one of the driest summers on record in my part of the country and today of all days is super duper rainy.  We’re all praying it clears up enough so that the ceremony and reception don’t have to be moved in doors.

I’ve been crazy busy the last couple days making the wedding cake; hence the late post today.  I was up until 2am last night stacking the three layer cake so I wouldn’t have to worry about doing it this morning.

In honor of the upcoming wedding and my involvement with the cake, I did a quick wedding cake mani.  I think it’s pretty cute.  Revlon Peachy is my base color.  Then I used China Glaze White On and For Audrey for the cake and polka dots.

Happy Wedding Day to my sister!

Peachy Gradient

6 Jul

My sister is getting married in less than two months.  In addition to making the wedding cake (yes, I make cakes too!  I know, a real Jackie of all trades!), I’m sure I’ll be doing everyone’s nails.

I’ve been trying to come up with a few subtle options that will merely act as an accessory, rather than take any focus away from the bride.  The manicure of the bride and bridal party shouldn’t be the first thing people notice when they’re attending the celebration.  Coral is one of her colors.  This isn’t exactly coral, but I just can’t get enough of this polish lately.  This is Revlon Peachy.  I sponged it on the the top half of my nail for an understated look.  At first I thought it was a little too subtle, but I’ve decided it actually looks really classy.  Adding the glitter, Nina Ultra Pro Opal Elegance, to it made all the difference.

I love how it just sort of blends right in my naked nail and skin tone, but doesn’t look like mannequin hands.  You’ll probably see a few more wedding options in the weeks to come.  I wish the cake was going to be as fast and easy to create.
