Halloween Round Up

31 Oct

Happy Halloween everyone!  Really not much could top my evil clown from yesterday.  So I kept today’s mani simple.

I had the idea a few weeks ago to try a checkerboard with a crackle polish and decided that today was the day.  I polished my nails with Jordana Orangesicle then grabbed my Jordana black crackle and started globbing it on.  Some of my checks didn’t crack.  I don’t know why, but it was a little disappointing.  I like the overall look anyway.  The crackle effect lends itself well to an imperfect design such as this.  I want to try a classic black and white checkerboard.  I imagine it will look a bit like a pair Vans shoes. 🙂

I did a lot of Halloween themed manis this month and wanted to showcase them all again while I had the chance.  Below are thumbnails to all the rest of them which link to the original posts.  My favorites were the bloody cuticles, roses and the evil clown.  Which was your favorite?

Twinsie Tuesday: Halloween

30 Oct

Being that I’ve been doing Halloween manis throughout the month, I saved my best for today.  I’ve had this design in mind for weeks now and almost didn’t do it out of sheer laziness.  I must say, it’s pretty awesome, so I’m happy I finally did it.

I vaguely remember watching Stephen King’s “It” years ago and being terrified of that clown.   Growing up one of my cousins had a bit of a clown theme in her bedroom.  I used to spend the night there regularly when my family was in town visiting.  I was always creeped out by all her clowns.  Granted they were happy circus clowns, but still.  Was I really supposed to believe that they weren’t going to come to life as soon as I went to sleep and come after me?  Thankfully I made it through many sleepovers unscathed.

Clowns, evil or not, are creepy to a lot of people, so I decided it would be fun to take advantage of that.  Knowing this was going to be an involved design, I opted for just one clown and did a fading gradient dot design on the rest of my nails.  I marbled my polka dots and love how some of them came out so swirly.  The base polish on all my nails is Julep Brigitte.  It’s become my favorite white and I’m down to half a bottle.  I need to ease up on it a bit.  The orange gradient is Jordana Orangesicle and the marbled black is China Glaze Liquid Leather.

For my clown I used Julep Molly for the red lips, Sinful Colors GoGo Girl for the nose, Sinful Colors Amethyst for the purple eyes, and Julep Annette for the wrinkles and creases in his face.  I topped it off with Hong Kong Girl top coat.

I hope to be able to wear this for a couple days so I can admire my handy work.  Hopefully my ring finger won’t magically come to life during the night and try to strangle me. 😉

Be sure the check out all the other manis today:

Tiny Ghosts

29 Oct

I wanted a less obvious Halloween mani.

I used Julep Whitney as my base color.  It’s a very mauve colored beige.  A great fall neutral.  My eyeballs are China Glaze Liquid Leather and the white is acrylic.

I threw on some little baby ghosts to Halloween in up.  It’s been a super busy weekend.  I’m really tired and just can’t think of much to say about this design.  It’s a cute, very understated Halloween mani that would even be appropriate for an office job.

I’m ready for Halloween to be over.  I’ve been so busy.

Smiley Fangs

27 Oct

I love when inspiration just pops into your head.  It makes things so much easier.

I don’t know where this idea came from, but I’m sooo happy it came because I love these nails!  They make me happy.  Look at all those cute little naive happy faces.  They have no idea they buddy Ringer is sadistic.  No idea that he’s about to turn on them.  Ha ha!

I used Sinful Colors Pull Over for my base color and China Glaze Liquid Leather for my faces.  My fangs are white acrylic and the blood is Julep Molly.  I finished this design off with Hong Kong Girl top coat.

I’ve been wearing these for three days now and am hoping to make it another couple days because they’re so stinking cute!  I don’t want to jinx it, but so far I don’t have even one chip; just a little tip wear.  I’m impressed.

Halloween Roses

26 Oct

Or are they tadpoles? I haven’t decided.  They started out as roses.  My thumb looked pretty good, but I’m not convinced the rest look like roses.

Regardless of what you see, I think they’re beautiful!  I’m in love with Sinful Colors Courtney Orange.  I’m sporting it on my toes currently.

I did this design with one of my medium sided dotting tools and China Glaze Liquid Leather.  I topped it off with Hong Kong Girl top coat.

I did this as a Halloween mani, but think it could be worn any time of year really.  I never thought I would love an orange polish so much.  So tell me, what do you see?  Roses, tadpoles or something else?
