Twinsie Tuesday: Regional

31 Jul

I think I say this almost every week, but this was a tough one for me.  A regional polish.  Something that either comes from your area or is only available in your area.  I did some light Googling and came up with nothing.  I also had a bit of a privacy dilemma.  I’m very grateful for all my readers, but didn’t feel the need to divulge where I live to everyone.  Sooo…

I picked five states in my general area and repre;sented each one on a nail.  I may or may not, live in one of these states, but will admit that I do live in this region of the United States.  Is that vague enough for you? 😉  On my thumb we have Wyoming, nicknamed the equality state.  My nail is split right up the middle; two equal parts.  The two polishes I used are OPI DS Classic and Opulence.  My index finger is representative of Utah, the beehive state.  I used Sinful Colors This Is It and Nirvana to create a honeycomb design.

My middle finger represents Idaho, the gem state.  I used multifaceted Orly Space Cadet and stuck on a few rhinestones to act as my gems.  My ring finger is representative of Arizona, the Grand Canyon state.  I did a multi-bordered design that got darker with each color to try to show depth, a hole.  I started with Jordana Chiffon, then Sinful Colors Nirvana, Finger Paints Sketchy Character and finally China Glaze Liquid Leather.  My pinkie was the easiest.  Nevada is the silver state.  I didn’t even try to get creative with it.  I simply brushed on a couple coats of OPI DS Radiance, a gorgeous silver foil.

This ended up being a fun theme because I had to get very creative and put a clever twist on it.  My favorite designs are Utah and Arizona.  I want to try Arizona in other colors sometime.

Twinsie Tuesday: Duochrome

19 Jun

Good Tuesday to you all!  Today we’re posting duochromes or metallics.  I actually only have one metallic polish and I didn’t want to showcase it today, so duochrome it is!  I recently bought a haul of NYX polishes while at the local mall.  By the time I got this one home, the label was gone from the bottom of the bottle.  I specifically remember checking the bottom of the bottles to make sure they all had labels so I knew what they were.  The names of the polishes aren’t on these bottles.  I don’t understand NYX polishes.  I have several of them and they are in three different bottles with three different labels.  One line is called NYX Girls.  It confuses me.  Anyway, when I decided to use this polish for today’s post, I had to try to figure out what it was called.  I googled and googled and finally found it swatched on Scrangie.  This beauty is NYX Jungle.

To dress it up, I used OPI Not Like the Movies (another duochrome or maybe even a multi-chrome) and added some gradient dots to the tips.  I love the way these two colors look together.  Jungle has a blue-green shift and Not Like the Movies goes from grey to green to purple.  My favorite is when the light hits the NLTM just right and it looks purple over Jungle.  So fun.

Oh yeah, and what do you think of my nubbins?  The other day I looked down at my hand and my ring finger nail was broken completely off.  I have no idea how I did it.  You’d think I would have felt something like that, but nope.  So I filed them all down to make my ring finger blend in.  I’m actually really liking the shorter length.  I might keep them a little shorter for a while.  We’ll see.

I’m really liking this design and it was super easy to do.  You might see it again in the future.

Twinsie Tuesday: Favorite Polish

15 May

Tuesday!  This week is supposed to be our favorite polishes.  How can any of us choose one favorite?  I just picked one of my many favorites.

Ozotic 506 is one of those polishes that you only pull out occasionally, because you don’t want to waste it.   You pull it out for special occasions.  I swatched this polish a while back so I had to do something to spice it up a bit.

Ozotic 506 is a fantastic multi-chrome.  It shows it true colors best when layered over black.  Here, I have it over China Glaze Liquid Leather.  Before I added the 506, I used some of my striping tape and taped off this chevron shape.

I think this polish is just fantastic!  I don’t think a multi-chrome can get much better than this.  The purple and blue are the most dominant colors and when the angles are right, you get a beautiful amber color.  I’m not sure if it was my Liquid Leather or the 506, but I had a lot of bubbling.

Ozotic 506

7 Dec

I had a really hard time choosing pictures for this post.  They were all so beautiful!  Ozotic is an Australian line of polish and makes some brilliant multi-chromes.  I put two layers of Ozotic 506 over Sally Hansen Black Out.  Depending on how the light hits it goes from blue to purple then hints to a maroonish and gold.  Really, the photos speak for themselves.

Can you believe this polish?  It’s like a chameleon; four polishes in one.  It went on like a dream and pops like crazy over black.  Definitely needs to be put over a dark color.  This is the kind of polish I’m hesitant to use too much for fear of running out.  Maybe I should order a back up bottle.  I ordered this through Stephanie at Packer Lacquer.  Order yours now!
