Happy Thanksgiving Mani

22 Nov

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Americans!  I hope you’re all celebrating with loved ones and yummy food.

I’ll keep it short today.  I chose the colors for this mani based on my chosen Thanksgiving Day festivities outfit.  My right and left hand manis don’t usually match, but on special occasions I go with a full ten finger design.

I had something different planned, but when I tested SOPI Blasted Gold with another color to see how they worked together, I learned it’s a crackle.  I bought it from a blog sale and had no idea it was a crackle.  I already own a gold crackle and never would have given it a second glance had I realized that.  Oh well.

I still loved the tone of this gold and wanted to use it anyway, so I changed my game plan.  I used Essie Chocolate Cakes and polished SOPI Blasted Gold over the top of three fingers.  On my middle and ring fingers I polished with Sinful Colors Mint Apple, sponged on some Blasted Gold and added some Chocolate Cakes polka dots.

I’m completely in love with the results!  Especially the middle and ring fingers.  Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  have a wonderful holiday.

Crackle Patchwork

29 Sep

I decided to try another crackle mosaic.  For some reason, this one really reminds me of a patchwork quilt though.

This time I went with a white base coat rather than a colored underbelly.  I also tried to keep my spots of color a lot smaller than the last time.  I like version 2.0 better than the first.

I used all of my crackle polishes.  I need to add to that rainbow I think; an orange or a yellow.  If you’re exceptionally curious about one of the polishes in particular, ask me and I’ll go see what it’s called.  Otherwise I’m not going to catalog them.

Crackle Mosaic

31 Aug

I recently found a new blog and fell in love with this post.

Hers is a hundred times better than mine, but either way, I love it!  I wish I had used more of my crackle/shatter polishes though.

After I painted my nail with Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow, I just started glopping them on.  I guess they’re not really glopped, or they wouldn’t crack, but I think you know what I mean.  I will definitely be trying this one again!

My crackle polishes are OPI Blue Shatter, Sally Hansen Snow Blast Crackle, Jordana Black Crackle, China Glaze Fault Line and the bright pink shimmer crackle is an unnamed Icing polish.  It has a label, but there’s no name on it.

Twinsie Tuesday: Crackle

17 Jul

Happy Tuesday Ladies!  Today we’re all showing off a crackle polish.  I know some people really don’t like crackles.  It seems to be either a love it or hate it kind of thing.  I love them.  I think it’s a really easy way to spice up a mani.  Today I have Jordana Crackle Top Coat in black.

The creativity to a crackle polish comes with what you put under it, I think.  I did a lot of thinking about that in preparation for today.  I still had the Wedding Holo mani on from last week and imagined it would be fantastic under a black crackle.  I was right. 🙂

I love the Color Club Art Club Silver Holo Glitter peeking through the cracks in the black.  To me, it resembles twinkle lights in bare trees, in the dark.  Does anyone else see that?  The nude color of the OPI DS Classic showing through is making the trunks of the trees and the silver holo glitter is the lights.  Pretty either way.

I sealed this with a quick coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast then finished it off with Jordana Quick Shine top coat.

Be sure the check out all the other manis today:

Independence Day Mish Mash Mani

4 Jul

Let Freedom Ring! Happy Independence Day to all my USA readers out there!  I’ll try to keep it short as I’m sure you all have plenty of celebrating to do.

So that my hands would match for my holiday celebrating, I did a red, white and blue themed mish mash on my right hand as well.  This one didn’t come together quite as easily being that I was doing it all with my non-dominant hand.  I’m still very happy with how it turned out.

My thumb is Color Club Reddy or Not, Sally Hansen White On and China Glaze Dorothy Who?.  The design is pretty self explanatory, although, it turned out looking a bit like eyeballs, which was not intentional.  Oh well.  My index finger is OPI DS Magic with red and silver striping tape.  The white striping tape was a bit transparent and didn’t really show up.

My middle finger is Color Club Reddy or Not, Sally Hansen Snow Blast Crackle and Jordana Smooth Blue.  Evidently this design has been coined a “fishtail.”  My ring finger is simply China Glaze Dorothy Who?.  It’s so beautiful all on it’s own, I decided not to add anything to it.

My pinkie is, again, Color Club Reddy or Not with Sally Hansen White On in a polish string art design.  This is such a fun technique.  Be sure to try it out if you haven’t already.  Each nail was finished off with a coat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast then Jordana Quick Shine.  There you have it ladies!  For those of you that are celebrating today, have a wonderful and safe 4th!  For those of you outside the USA, have a fantastic Wednesday!
