Twinsie Tuesday: Cervical Cancer Awareness

22 Jan

Did you know that January is Cervical Cancer Awareness month?  I didn’t.  Cervical cancer screening is just as important as breast cancer, skin, ovarian, prostate, colon screening and all other forms of cancer.
CervicalCancerAwareness_floral_stripes (5) WLcopyA little information for you about cervical cancer:
Each year in the United States, more than 11,000 women are diagnosed with cervical cancer and approximately 4,000 die of the disease. While certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV) are linked to cervical cancer, vaccines such as Gardasil® and Cervarix™ are designed to prevent infection with high-risk types of HPV and have the potential to greatly reduce the occurrence of cervical cancer.

CervicalCancerAwareness_floral_stripes (7) WLcopyTo show my support in teal and white, I went with some chunky stripes and a floral. To give myself an extra challenge, I did this design with my left hand. It was a lot trickier, but I managed. I used Milani Fresh Teal, NYX Girls White and white acrylic for the floral.

CervicalCancerAwareness_floral_stripes (8) WLcopyI think it’s safe to say that none of us enjoy our cervical cancer screenings, but hopefully we all understand how important it is. Go get your paps ladies! 🙂

Gold Leaf

2 Jan

This isn’t really gold leafing, but the design looks like leaves to me and it’s gold paint, sooo…Blue_gold (4) WLcopyColor Club Gossip Column is a phenomenal blue.  I would call it a deeply pigmented, dusty blue; leaning towards teal.  I don’t know if that even makes sense.  The gold is acrylic.  These two colors are fabulous together and I’m loving the leafy pattern.Blue_gold (10) WLcopy

It looks very regal, don’t you think?

Comet Tails

6 Dec

Sometimes I see a pattern that just really jumps out at me. I recently saw a nail wrap that was a similar design to this and thought, I can do that (or something like it at least.)  And here we are.CometTails (3) WLcopyI was using white on my other hand for the Jonqal design I posted on Tuesday, so I just carried it over to my right hand for this one.  I’m not very good at putting polishes away after I’ve used them.  I generally have a bit of a collection lining my workspace.  When I started brainstorming colors for this design, I just looked at what was already out in front of me.

CometTails (10) WLcopyOne of my favorites, Essie Alligator Purse was the first one I picked.  The grey is Sally Hansen Wet Cement.  I was initially thinking of using a chartreuse-ish green, but decided Milani Fresh Teal was the better way to go.

I love the way this turned out.  I just used the small detail brush that I already had out and started brushing it on.  Using my non-dominant hand to create this made it really easy to have far less than perfect lines.  In hindsight, I wish I’d added a little black in to the mix to give it that extra pop, but still, I think it looks fabulous.

Shimmer Linna

30 Aug

I’ve got another Shimmer Polish to show you today.  This one is Linna.  It’s very much a green/teal colored glitter with splashes of other colors thrown in there for extra sparkle.

I layered this over Milani Fresh Teal.

My pinkie doesn’t have a base color so you can see what two coats of Linna looks like all by itself.

Head over to Shimmer Polish to have a look at all of Cindy’s fabulous polishes!

*This polish was sent to me for review by Shimmer Polish.

Neon Broadway

27 Aug

Another neon?  I know, I know.  Neons are hot.  What can I say?

The first time I posted a design like this I mentioned that it reminded me of theater lights.  I had a comment that it looked like Broadway lights and absolutely agreed.  Broadway it is!  For some reason I see traffic lights as well; a little more obscure maybe, but still, traffic lights.

Like I’ve mentioned before, I’ve been thinking about lots of neon combinations lately so I’ve been trying to get it all out of my system.  I hate to say this, but I really can’t remember which white polish I used for this.  How lame is that?  I’m pretty sure it was Julep Brigitte, but I’m not positive.  The yellow is NYX Girls Bubble Gum.  Purple is Milani Rad Purple.  My pink is NYX Girls Pink Strawberry.  The blue is Milani Fresh Teal and the orange is NYX Girls Hot Orange.

Aside from the dots of course, this is a design that can be done with the bottle brush.  Ooh!  I just thought of another variation of this design.  I’ll file that away for another day. 🙂
