Twinsie Tuesday: Vintage Beauty Ad

29 Jan

I perused vintage beauty ads on Google for a long time looking for something I could (and wanted to) do. I emailed myself several links to keep track of the ones I liked so I could go back later and make a decision. When I went back to look through my links, none of them worked. They either linked to Google images directly or to the wrong image all together. Sooo frustrating!
VintageMakeupAdAfter Googling different phrases and browsing through images for a good hour trying to find the one I had decided to do, I finally found it.

Pastels_and_pearls (7) WLcopyI only had silver micro beads, but I think this is a good interpretation on this ad. This was the first time I’ve done a caviar type mani. I was frustrated that there were some gaps that required me to shift the beads around or add one to fill in the holes. They kept falling off too. I really only kept this on long enough to get pictures taken. I don’t think I’m a fan of the micro beads.

Pastels_and_pearls (15) WLcopyThe polishes I used were OPI Pink Friday, OPI Swedish Nude (under the beads), Essie Borrowed and Blue, American Apparel Butter and OPI Do You Lilac It.  What do you think?  Did I represent this ad well?

Be sure the check out all the other manis today:

Birthday Bunting

24 Jan

Just a quickie today. I wanted to do a mani on my right hand that matched the Spun Sugar Birthday Candles I was sporting on my left hand.Bunting (11) WLcopyFreehanded (with my non-dominant hand) bunting. I’ve always thought bunting nails were cute and festive.  I used some of the same polishes as my candles.  Essie Power Clutch was my base, the yellow is Sinful Colors Pull Over and my flags are OPI Do You Lilac It, Milani Pink Hottie and Zoya Mitzi.

Spun Sugar Birthday Candles

23 Jan

It’s my birthday!!  Yahoo!!  Hubs is taking me out for a night on the town (so to speak.)  SpunSugar_birthdaycandles (10) WLcopyI know I did birthday candles last year, but nothing says birthday to me like birthday candles.

SpunSugar_birthdaycandles (12) WLcopyTo kick them up a notch this time, I did them spun sugar style. Doing the spun sugar technique vertically was more of a challenge than horizontally. The strings just didn’t want to stick to my nail as much.

SpunSugar_birthdaycandles (14) WLcopyI love the melted wax look that resulted. They look very abstract. Love ’em! I used Essie Power Clutch as my base. My candles were done with OPI Do You Lilac It, Zoya Robyn, Milani Pink Hottie, and Zoya Mitzi. My flames are Sinful Color Pull Over and Jordana Orangesicle. I finished this off with Chill Zone top coat.

Zebra and Leopard Nails

18 Jan

I pinned this post from Enamel Girl a while back. I was looking through my pins the other day hoping for some inspiration and this jumped out at me.Leopard-Zebra (3) WLcopyShe stamped hers and I’ve never really done a zebra print so I was a little apprehensive. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to do.

Leopard-Zebra (9) WLcopyI love this look! I’ve been doing manis on my right hand for a few days because I can’t bring myself to take this off!

Leopard-Zebra (15) WLcopyI used NYX Girls White for my base, sponged on some Julep Stella on the tips and used black acrylic for the stripes and spots. I topped it off with Chill Zone top coat.
