Peachy Latice

6 Mar

Since doing my 50 First Dates mani a few weeks ago, I’ve been wanting to try this “pineapple” mani again.Latice_coral (2) WLcopyObviously these aren’t pineapple colors, but they’re still springy and make me think of the warm sun on my back. I used China Glaze Peachy Keen and Sinful Colors Hazard.

Fall Scales

4 Oct

This is supposed to look like scales; like a mermaid tail.  Because of the fall colors I’ve chosen, all I an see are turkey feathers.

I’m super duper happy with this look and even happier that it was so easy!  All bottle brushes folks.  No nail art tools required.  I left a little naked nail showing near the cuticle.  I little peep show if you will. 😉

Many colors when in to this design.  I had three brown shades: Jordana Chiffon (the lightest), Sinful Colors Nirvana (medium brown) and Essie Chocolate Cakes (dark, reddish brown).  The orangey looking color is actually China Glaze Peachy Keen, but in the photographs it translates more as a golden yellow.  The green is Popova of the new Trina Turk line from Julep.  The blue Color Club Gossip Column.  Topped it off with the tried and true Jordana Quick Shine top coat.  The possibilities are endless with this design.  You can do as many different manis as you can think up color combinations.  I’ve already got a couple more in mind.  Love it!

Shimmer Carmen

13 Sep

When I look at this polish, it makes me think of pumpkin spice.  Mmm… Pumpkin spice anything is a favorite of mine.

Shimmer Carmen is a very warm, golden, copper, peachy colored glitter.  Beautiful!  I think I just have fall on the brain lately so any orange-ish colored polish translates in to something pumpkin.

I layered this over China Glaze Peachy Keen.  It’s a very orange toned peach, rather than pink toned.  That’s what makes it perfect for Carmen.

As I’ve done in the past, my pinkie has no base color; just two coats of Carmen over my naked nail.  The rest of my nails have just one coat.  Superb coverage.

*This polish was sent to me for review by Shimmer Polish.

Gradient Stripes

8 Sep

I think this is another unintentional animal print.  The other day I did an peacock without meaning to and, again because of my color choices, this looks a bit tiger stripe-ish.

I’m sure if I’d done blue or green it would just look like stripes.  I used Julep Brigitte as my base.

For my stripes I started with China Glaze Peachy Keen, next came Sinful Colors Hazard and Timbleberry.  The darkest of my colors was Wet ‘n Wild Everybody Loves Redmond.  I’m curious to see what this looks like in other colors because all I see when I look at it now is wannabe tiger stripes.

Wedding Day Polka Dots

3 Sep

As I said in my last post, my sister got married on Saturday.  It rained most of the day and we were all very nervous that the outdoor wedding and reception that had been planned would be ruined.  Thankfully, the skies cleared a little more than an hour before the ceremony.  The sun came out and everything dried up.  It was a very sweet ceremony.  My sister looked unbelievably gorgeous and my new brother-in-law was very handsome in his tux.  A new storm rolled in after a couple hours and we had to scramble inside for the remainder of the celebration, but it didn’t ruin the evening.  Definitely a night to remember.

Being that I was making the wedding cake, I didn’t have a lot of time to do my own nails.  I wanted to keep them simple anyway.

Her colors were coral and aqua.  I polished my nails with Wet ‘n Wild I Need a Refresh-Mint then dotted on some Julep Alyson and Revlon Peachy.  They were the perfect compliment to my coral bridesmaid’s dress and the turquoise jewelery I wore.

I topped it off with Hong Kong Girl Top Coat.

I’ll post a picture of the wedding cake on Top Coat It’s Facebook page if you’d like a peek at it.
