Twinsie Tuesday: Pastel & Neon Halfmoons

12 Jun

Today we’re doing pastel and neon half moons.  I started with one color combination and it was horrid.  I’m not even going to tell you what it was.  Horrid.  On top of awful color choices, I was struggling to keep my lines clean for some reason.  I don’t know what my problem was.  Frustrating.

Then I remembered THIS mani that I pinned a while back.  Yehaw!  No leakage issues with this striped half moon method.  I love the creative take on this half moon design.

Of course once I decided on the design, I had to re-evaluate my colors.  I went with Jordana Mint Candy as my pastel and Milani Rad Purple for my neon.  I know, it doesn’t really look neon.  If the bottle didn’t say it was a neon color, I wouldn’t call it neon.

I might do all my half moons like this in the future.  I like the creative twist and it was so easy to do!

Be sure the check out all the other manis today:

Brown and Green Half Moon

12 Mar

Have you noticed the slight redesign of my blog? Just a few minor tweaks, but they made a huge difference. Yay for hubbies that can code!

I haven’t done many half moons, just because I’m not patient enough to wait for my base polish to dry enough to put a sticker on it. I wanted an opportunity to use this OPI Sit Under the Apple Tree so this is what I chose to do.

The brown is Sinful Colors Nirvana. I love greens and browns together. And I love this green. Even though you can’t see it, OPI Sit Under the Apple Tree does have a tiny hint of holo shimmer; just a hint. It’s pretty sheer and looks a bit more yellow when it’s by itself. Over Nirvana, it does show as a light green and pretty much matches the bottle color. It’s really pretty.

I used these same two polishes in a different design that I did on my right hand. I’ll post that mani later in the week. It was ridiculously easy. Stay tuned.

Another Half Moon

9 Dec

I didn’t realize China Glaze Phat Santa was a jelly until I put it over a glitter.  I love that you can see hints of the glitter through the red. While this isn’t one of my official Christmas manicures, it does look pretty festive.  It’s a little hard to get a reinforcement sticker to glitter.  I had to put a top coat on it just to smooth it out enough to get the sticker to stay put.

It turned out beautifully!  I heart it.

Half Moons

3 Dec

When I told my husband I was going to try a half moon mani, he said, “So you’re gonna paint half butts on your nails?” Har, har, har. Silly hubby.  This was my first half moon.    Glitters and half moons don’t go together very well.  You can’t get a nice crisp line with a glitter, but it still looks pretty cool.

This is O.P.I. Rainbow connection over Jordana Purple Bright.  I globbed this glitter on pretty thick so it was a bugger to get off.  I really hate that about glitters.  I did my left hand was wasn’t convinced I liked the results, so I put Cult Nails Clairvoyant on my left hand.  I liked that much better.  I’m happy that flakies are easier to get off, too.

Clairvoyant is one of those polishes that pretty much makes everything better, doesn’t it?  I heart it.

Just to see what it looked like I added Sephora by O.P.I.’s matte top coat to my thumb.  I like it better glossy.

Ultimately, I like the half moon and will for sure try it many more times.  The pack of reinforcement stickers has like 500 in it after all.
