Candy Corn

18 Oct

I LOVE candy corn!  Like, seriously.  I could devour an entire bag before I realized what had happened.  It’s a family trait.  You should see how fast my siblings and I can make candy corn disappear.  It’s like magic.  I’m going to try my darnedest to stay strong this year and avoid Halloween candy.  I’ve worked so hard all year to lose weight and get healthy and that can be undone all too easily with a giant bowl of candy intended for trick-or-treaters.

I plan to give out pretzels this year.  It kind of makes me sad that I’m going to be that one “boring candy” house.  You know, there were always the houses you knew you had to hit when you went trick-or-treating because they had awesome candy and the houses you passed up because they handed out last year’s leftovers or “healthy” stuff.  Unfortunately I’m going to be that house this year.

For this look I started with Sally Hansen Gem Crush Glitz Gal; three coats.  Once it was dry enough, I taped it off and added a white v-gap with Julep Brigitte, then freehanded in Sinful Colors Pull Over and Jordana Orangesicle intentionally showing some brush strokes.  I really like the organic lines of the brush strokes as opposed to rigid lines that would have resulted from tape.  It looks a little more authentic I think.

What’s your take on this candy corn design and the candy?  Do you like candy corn?  Did you know you can melt candy corn, mix in some peanut butter, cover it with chocolate and make your own Butterfingers?  YUM!  Oh my.  I made them last year.  Delicious!  But don’t think you can cut the guilt factor by using low fat peanut butter, because it just won’t work.  You need the full fat variety. Here’s the recipe in case you want to try it.

So cute! Using the glitter to provide the shape to the candy corn is awesome!
